My name is Syad.: The recording that was never planned.

Phewww! it's been a hectic first 3 days of work.. thanks to my 6 weeks MC.. hmpff..

Just got back from Sri Pentas and a meeting with Alibi regarding Marsha's next single which will be out the first week of March.. But no, it's not Tak Perlu Selamanya (the song that u are probably listening to from tis blog rite now)..

Things are looking pretty alrite i guess.. *fingers crossed*.. I'm gonna save the Alibi and single bit for another entry.. hehe.. or shall we keep it a secret for now? ;P

Aaaanyway..

I received a call from Abg Kit last week. He's working on Noraniza Idris's new album which is scheduled for release in March.. and guess wat? Kak Ani herself wants to do a duet with Marsha for a Sabahan influenced track for the album.

Cool eh? It's an honor really. SMSed marsha right away and 8 hours of contemplation later, Marsha finally agreed.

It all went so quick. We were contacted on Tuesday, given the track demo right away, decided 8 hours later. And the next day an official offer letter from kak Ani's production.. Initially we were planning to go into the studio for recording on friday (of the same week, btw).. but marsha fell ill.. like seriously ill on thursday during the 1Malaysia concert in Dataran Klebang Melaka. So we had to postpone the recording to Monday instead.

Eventhough we had postponed the recording, Marsha did not stop studying and practicing the song.. I mean, Marsha is sooo not used to singing pop ethnic songs.. and this is Noraniza Idris.. What more to scare the hell out of her cat belly rite?

In fact, i told kak ani before hand that Marsha has never done anything of this kind.. i hope she doesnt mind and help is seriously needed.. She said it's ok, she'll guide through an there is nothing to worry.

So finally the day came..

Somehow the recording was fun!.. Everyone was just enjoying the session.. And suprisingly, Marsha did well.. ahaahahah.. Kak Ani said apparently she does have a suitable tone and a melodious voice , so it was pretty much an advantage..

Me: Sha.. ok that's it! We are changing ur genre.. tak yah buat album main piano dah.. kita wat album lagu tradisional je dah.

Marsha : You gilerrr?? Nak i mati?

Tempo has always been Marsha's problem tho, even with ballads what more a colorful song like tis.. Other than that, it went well.. All and all, it took Marsha 5 hours to record the song.
