Here's the thing - The moment you say you wanna do something, that's when you are actually gonna stop doing it.. Just like when I said I thought of writing film reviews again and blog it, that's when all my dreams went in to the blackhole.
Nway.. Happy New Year! So it's already 2012 huh.. and naturally, i did not update anything in this blog since d last one. Of course. Naturally.
So this year, my resolution is not to have a resolution.. I don't think I've ever set a resolution but even if I did, I should never say it. Or else it will just die as I am capable of jinxing my own wishes.
However, I am testing myself on something and I do hope writing this doesn't kill it. And I do hope it becomes a motivation for myself to strive better and for you readers to inspire.. or kutuk.. which ever makes you happy, I couldn't be bothered. :p
Anyway...
Last Christmas, I made my 2nd trip to India. I was only 24 when I last visited on a 20days backpacking trip through Delhi-Agra-Jaipur-Jodhpur-Udaipur. My travel partner and I both slept in trains, walked miles with our backpacks, slept at stations. On top of that, we were on a vegetarian diet the whole time.
Play that vision in the background.
..Last Christmas, I was 28.. Had meat on the 2nd day and the days after, slept in a nice hotel and travelled in a van. My luggage bag? A Ralph Lauren with wheels.
Now, you would think I've gone bitchier and spoilt. But that's really not the issue. I went with my family, so of course it's much fancier than going on a backpacking. (Had to hide that fact so it makes me sound snobbish.. need to dramatize, hahaha.. No worries, I still go backpacking and in fact, I just came back from backpacking in Thailand a month prior to this trip anyway)...
While in Jaipur, I decided to tour the town on my own as I've seen the places in the guide's itinerary. Our hotel is literally just behind the place I stayed 4 years ago. I took the same old path that I took the last time by foot to Pink City. If the pedometer was right, it comes to about 6.4km. Here's two things to remember -
1) Streets in India are not like what we have in Malaysia.
2)India is not as hot during winter. I managed to walk the 6.4km path and walked around the city like the good old days.
La la la.. But when it was time to return to the hotel, I developed a profound respect for my younger self. Because at 28, I got tired, my legs got tired, I lost my patience and took the Trishaw instead.
Here's the thing... After my cyst operation in 2010, I started to eat less salt and cared more about my period.. Last July I resigned from managing artiste because I wanted to have a work-life balance for a better state of health... And this India 6.4km-failure experience makes me wanna be just - fit.
Forget loosing weight. I would rather be fat and strong than thin but weak... aaarh you get what i mean.. Also..
i) I see a lot of young people, people my age getting sick nowadays..
ii) I see a lot of young people, people my age die of some sickness.. *Innalillah*
iii) I see a lot of young people, people my age lead very unhealthy lifestyle
iv) I see a lot of young people, people my age having problems to conceive. (Yeah, i wanna have a baby. I just need a husband.)
iv) Jennifer Aniston is f*ckin hot and she is 42!
So upon my return to Malaysia, i have managed to keep workout in my daily routine. I've yet to hit the gym (although my personal trainer, Hairul wud have been a better motivator in gettin me disciplined. I figured I'll try make it on my own and then look for him when I am ready for more intensity) but I've been constant on my Yoga, Squash and Futsal.. My futsal schedule stays as usual - Monday nights with an additional one new session with the office team on Thursdays.. Yoga on Tuesdays and Saturday... Squash on Wednesday and Saturday.
It has been 6 weeks and Alhamdulillah.. I could feel that I am breathing better, sleeping better and more focused.. A 30minute game can now go on up to a 1.5hour session.. the Warrior pose seems easier to sustain and the Sun Salutation seems simpler. Work has been amazing, more work gets done during the day and no work reaches home except for my school homework (Ya, i am doing my Masters Degree at the moment).. With all this, i hope to regain my younger stamina.
Hmm.. but then again, the reason why the 6 weeks had worked is because I never said anything!
O-oh.
